عاقل نمی‌باشم دمی عشق این تقاضا می‌کند

غافل نمی‌باشم دمی عشق این تقاضا می‌کند

Not for a moment am I irrational; love demands this.
Not for a moment am I heedless; love demands this.

در فکر اویم صبح و شام در ذکر خیر او مدام

کاهل نمی‌باشم دمی عشق این تقاضا می‌کند

Morning and evening, I am in His thought, always in His good remembrance.
Not for a moment am I negligent; love demands this.

حقم سراپا حق‌پرست بر من ندارد دیو دست

باطل نمی‌باشم دمی عشق این تقاضا می‌کند

My whole being is a worshipper of Truth; no demon has a hand over me.
Not for a moment am I false; love demands this.

میلم همیشه‌سوی اوست‌سوئی بغیر ازسوی‌ دوست

مایل نمی‌باشم دمی عشق این تقاضا می‌کند

My inclination is always toward Him, toward no direction but the Friend,
Not for a moment do I waver; love demands this.

در کار آن خورشیدوش جستم چو تیر غمزه‌اش

کاهل نمی‌باشم دمی عشق این تقاضا می‌کند

In pursuit of that sun-faced One, I run like the arrow of His glance.
Not for a moment am I lazy; love demands this.

برداشتم خود را ز پیش دیگر میان او و خویش

حایل نمی‌باشم دمی عشق این تقاضا می‌کند

I have removed myself from the midst, so between He and me,
Not for a moment am I a barrier; love demands this.

در عشق تا گشتم علم علمم فزاید دم بدم

جاهل نمی‌باشم دمی عشق این تقاضا می‌کند

Since I ascended in love, my knowledge grows moment by moment.
Not for a moment am I ignorant; love demands this.

هر چه او کند من راضیم هر چه او دهد من قانعم

سایل نمی‌باشم دمی عشق این تقاضا می‌کند

Whatever He does, I am content; whatever He gives, I am satisfied.
Not for a moment am I a beggar; love demands this.

عشقش بود جان من چو تن جز عشق او را فیض من

قابل نمی‌باشم دمی عشق این تقاضا می‌کند

His love is the soul, I am like the body; other than His love, I am receptive to no grace.

Not for a moment am I worthy; love demands this.
